Print Version (PDF)

The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) will host its annual Veterans Creative Arts Festival Thursday, Feb. 26, to highlight the artwork, poetry and musical talents of area Veterans.

Veterans enrolled for care at any Lovell FHCC’s facilities are encouraged to submit artwork in the following art categories: painting; sculpture; drawing; photography; wood, leather and model kits, and pottery. Performance categories include poetry, drama, solo and group vocal and instrumental acts, vocal original compositions, and senior and special recognition.

The deadline for submission is Feb. 13 to Tricia Stewart, FHCC art therapist. Stewart can be reached at 224-610-4201 or for more information.

Local artists, musicians and writers will judge the creative entries and determine places in each category. The first place winning pieces will be eligible to advance on to the national level, where they will compete with entries submitted by Veterans from other Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities around the country.

The festival provides Veterans the opportunity to participate in creative self-expression in art and performance and to gain recognition for their artistic accomplishments. The National Veterans Creative Arts Festival will take place in Durham, North Carolina, Oct. 12-18.
