The Lovell FHCC is located approximately 15-miles south of the Wisconsin state line, several miles east of Interstate 94 and U.S. 41. It is at the corner of Green Bay Rd. and Buckley Rd (IL-137), and is directly west of Naval Station Great Lakes.
VISITATION POLICY UPDATE AS OF Dec. 12, 2022:
We are continually monitoring the current COVID-19 case counts in our community and based off that data, Lovell FHCC visitor restrictions may fluctuate. Currently, we are in High COVID-19 Heatlth Protection Level. While we are in high protection, visits may be allowed, but at the discretion of the patient's clinical care team. Visits to patients in our Community Living Center (CLC) are also determined on a case-by-case basis. Please arrange those visits with the nurse manager, or social worker, on the floor. See below for more information.
COVID-19 Visitation Guidelines
Visitors (when allowed) must:
- Wear a facility provided medical grade face coverings.
- Perform hand hygiene upon entrance and exit of the patient's room.
- Enter the patient's room only.
- Must be age 18 years or over (may be adjusted on a case-by-case basis).
UNITS (note below applies only when current policy allows and must be pre-arranged):
ICU
Daily:
6:30 a.m.- 8:30 a.m. No visitors.
8:30 a.m.- 6 p.m. Visitation allowed.
6 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. No visitors.
8:30 p.m.- 9:30 p.m. Visitation allowed.
133-4AB (Med/Surg)
Daily:
9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Visitation allowed.
For both ICU annd Med/Surg:
One visitor at a time, preferred two-three designated visitors for length of stay. Frequency and duration of visit is decided by care team based on patient's needs.
Virtual daily visits can be coordinated between staff and family.
*In double occupancy rooms, the roommate will be notified of a planned visit and the curtain will be drawn for the entire visit.
Imminent & End of Life all Acute Care units (Except CLC)
Visits will be allowed on a case-by-case basis to optimize visitation.

Tuesdays & Thursdays 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. & 6 p.m.- 8 p.m.

CLC (Legacy & Green House Homes)
If you are interested in visiting your loved ones in the CLC, please contact the Charge Nurse of the household to schedule your in-person visit. Visitors are expected to comply with a COVID-19 screening (which can take up to 15 minutes) prior to your visit and without signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Visitors are not allowed in the common areas (e.g., kitchen, dining, or living rooms). No more than three (3) visitors are allowed at a time. No visitors under the age of 18.

At our campus in North Chicago, Illinois, the Lovell FHCC provides a full spectrum of health care for our patients, including full medical and surgical care, a large array of medical sub-specialties (cardiology, pulmonary, neurology, etc,), a variety of mental health services (acute and long-term care, post-traumatic stress disorder, homeless domiciliary care, alcohol/drug rehab, etc.), Community Living Center, as well as many other programs.

The Branch Medical and Dental Clinics on Recruit Training Command and Naval Station Great Lakes are only accessible for authorized personnel.

The Lovell FHCC respects the patient's right to make decisions about his or her care, treatment and services, and to involve the patient's family in care, treatment, and services decisions to the extent permitted by the patient or surrogate decision-maker. ‘Family’ is defined as a group of two or more persons united by blood, or adoptive, marital, domestic partnership, or other legal ties. The family may also be a person or persons not legally related to the individual (such as significant other, friend or caregiver) whom the individual considers to be family. A family member may be the surrogate decision-maker, as defined in VHA Handbook 1004.02, if authorized to make care decisions for the individual, should he or she lose decision-making capacity or choose to delegate decision making to another.
The FHCC allows a family member, friend or other individual to be present with the patient for emotional support during the course of stay. The FHCC allows for the presence of a support individual of the patient's choice, unless the individual's presence infringes on others' rights or safety or is medically or therapeutically contraindicated. The individual may or may not be the patient's surrogate decision-maker or legally authorized representative.
The FHCC prohibits discrimination based on age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, language, physical or mental disability, socioeconomic status, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression.
Are service dogs allowed in VA facilities?
Yes. We allow service dogs of all breeds in VA facilities. This includes VA health facilities, Vet Centers, regional offices, and other properties we own or lease.
To enter and remain in a VA facility, a service dog must meet all of these requirements:
- The dog must be trained to work or perform tasks for a person with a disability (including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or mental health disability). Dogs that provide only emotional support, comfort, or companionship don't qualify as service dogs.
- The dog must be under the control of its owner or another hander at all times.
- The dog must not enter areas where an animal could cause problems with patient care, safety, or infection control (like operating rooms).
