VISITATION POLICY UPDATE AS OF May 20, 2022:
We are continually monitoring the current COVID-19 case counts in our community and based off that data, Lovell FHCC visitor restrictions may fluctuate.
Currently, outpatients attending appointments at Lovell FHCC are restricted to one (1) companion/escort to accompany them to appointments.
Visitor restrictions in our Community Living Center (CLC) are determined on a case-by-case basis. We ask visitors to please contact the social worker or nurse manager responsible for the household for specific guidance. See below for more information
For additional information about visitation not specified below, please contact the nurse manager for the ward for additional guidelines.
Visiting hours, when allowed, for all areas of the FHCC are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Additional information for the Community Living Center (CLC):
If you are interested in visiting your loved ones in the CLC, please contact the Charge Nurse of the household to schedule your in-person visit. Visitors are expected to comply with a COVID-19 screening (which may take up to 15 minutes) prior to your visit and without signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Visitors are not allowed in the common areas (e.g., kitchen, dining, or living rooms). No more than three (3) visitors are allowed at a time. No visitors under the age of 18.

One visitor at a time, preferred two-three designated visitors for length of stay.
Frequency and duration of visit is decided by care team based on patient's needs.
*In double occupancy rooms, the roommate will be notified of a planned visit and the curtain will be drawn for the entire visit.
Imminent & End of Life all Acute Care Units (Except CLC)
Visits will be allowed on a case-by-case basis to optimize visitation.
Virtual daily visits can be coordinated between staff & family.
Acute Mental Health: 131-4A & 4C
Tuesdays & Thursdays 1-3:30 p.m. & 6-8 p.m.

One essential companion/escort as necessary to support goals of the visit.

Each visit is limited to ten (10) minutes in length
Additional information for the Mental Health Unit:
During visiting hours, a staff member will greet you, ask who you wish to visit, ask you to sign in, and explain our contraband policy (certain items are clearly considered contraband in the hospital environment. These include weapons, illegal or unauthorized drugs, intoxicants, flammable items, and items with a sharp edge. Other items such as a torn sheet or clothing, electrical cords, silverware, wire, etc., may be considered contraband if staff believes the item may be used by a patient to harm themselves or someone else). Visitors are subject to search. If staff detect that dangerous contraband is present, the visitor(s) will be asked to leave and the medical center, and police may be notified. The purpose of the contraband policy is to ensure that each patient on the unit receives necessary care and treatment in a safe and secure environment. Cell phones are not permitted during the visit.
We will always ask our patients for their permission to allow you to visit with them. It is important to understand that there are times when visiting by family members and others may be restricted for clinical reasons. Visitors are expected to be respectful and considerate toward other patients, staff, and visitors. A display of disruptive behavior will not be tolerated within any unit. Visitors who threaten physical or verbal aggression will be asked to leave the unit by staff.
The daily plan of care and summary of activities for the day are posted on our unit. Also, there will be times when a patient may refuse to receive visitors.
VA General Visitation Policy
The medical center respects the patient's right to make decisions about his or her care, treatment and services, and to involve the patient's family in care, treatment, and services decisions to the extent permitted by the patient or surrogate decision-maker. "Family" is defined as a group of two or more persons united by blood, or adoptive, martial, domestic partnership, or other legal ties. The family may also be a person or persons not legally related to the individual (such as significant other, friend or caregiver) whom the individual considers to be family. A family member may be the surrogate decision-maker, as defined in VHA Handbook 1004.02, if authorized to make care decisions for the individual, should he or she lose decision-making capacity or choose to delegate decision making to another. The medical center allows a family member, friend or other individual to be present with the patient for emotional support during the course of stay. The medical center allows for the presence of a support individual of the patient's choice, unless the individual's presence infringes on other's rights or safety, or is medically or therapeutically contraindicated. The individual may or may not be the patient's surrogate decision-maker or legally authorized representative. The hospital prohibits discrimination based on age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, language, physical or mental disability, socioeconomic status, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression.
